Description: The Town of Oakville (the “Town”) is seeking a consultant to conduct a pilot project to understand the benefits, challenges, and opportunities of using building information modeling (“BIM”) technology in the review of a mid-rise residential building application within the Town. The consultant will provide access to commercial, off-the-shelf BIM software and will work in parallel with the Town’s Building Services staff to review a building permit application from submission to issuance of a permit. During the review, the consultant will assess the benefits, challenges, and opportunities in using BIM for the review of building permits and provide guidance on how BIM can be incorporated into the Town’s approval process. Proponents should note that this is part of a larger, multi-year initiative, referred to as “Plan-it Oakville”. A further breakdown of the specific Deliverables for this project and details about the Plan-it Oakville initiative can be found in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix B).
